Item description

THE HONEY BOAT Writen Illustrated By Valenti Angelo Author of: The Acorn Tree The Marble Fountain etc. Ex-Library Book. Copyright Date: 1959. No Edition Stated but has a 1960 stamp on the library page.. Published By: The Viking Press. 160 Pages. Book Boards Are In Fair Condition with some light edge shelf wear. Pages Are Clean tight with several light soiling spots. No Dustjacket From the Flyleaf piece glued on the back inside board: ....... The "honey boat" was a big sturdy barge, built many years ago by Papa Ricci and his brother, Uncle Gigi. She was called the Apis Regina--the Queen Bee--for on her wide deck the Riccis' beehives traveled up and down the the little Italian river every year, following the blossoming, so bees could harvest the honey. Each spring Andrea, now fourteen, helped to scrape and paint the barge until she looked like new. But the very happiest time was in the summer, when, afloat with Papa and Uncle Gigi and the bees--and never far from his home farm and the mother and sisters he loved so devotedly--he found all sorts of excitement in exploring the countryside and making friends along the shore.
