More about this item

The Marvelous Land of Oz L. Frank Baum The Reilly Britton Co, 1904. This book is the "Red Cloth" version. Some were issued in salmon pink and green cloth. This is the second "Oz Book" in the series of 16 by Baum after "THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ" which was published in 1900 by Hill Co. Hardcover. Book condition is very good, way above what usually is found when this 114 year old book is seen. Presents itself nicely for display on shelf. First edition, second state with โ€œPublished July, 1904โ€ on the copyright page, square 8vo, pp. (1-4), 5-287, (1) blank, 16 color plates (all plates are present and each is original to the book, with no facsimile plates) --- the plates are after paintings by John R. Neill, with many black white illustrations full page and in the text throughout. Original red pictorial cloth with design and titles in dark blue silver. One horizontal rule at the top of the spine two at the bottom. Minimal spine end wear as shown in the photos. The title on the front cover is outlined in silver. Pictorial endpapers. A very nice copy with some wear to edges (please see the photos), and also a bit to the corners extremities. Sheets plates very good. Front hinge starting to crack, the rear hinge is cracked. The book is solid. No loose signatures. Above the average to be found in a child's book this old. This book shelves nicely and excellent for display as well. with a nice spine and front cover. If you desire more photos of this book, I will forward these to you through. Hanff, Greene, Martin, Greene Haff, state 2 in binding B, pp. 46-47. Add a map to your own listings. FREE Trial!
