Item description

The Nations at War Willis J. Abbot 1918 Leslie Judge The Nations at War Willis J. Abbot Leslie-Judge Company, 1918 1918 Edition End paper maps Illustrated 328 pages The binding has several breaks, but all pages are present and attached. The pages are lightly tanned and mildly foxed on the edges. There are water stains on the bottom edge of most pages with some having color run from the cover. There is a name and date 1918 on the half title page. The cover is scuffed and stained and shows some edge wear. Acceptable. Hardcover. Excerpts from introduction: This book tells with painstaking and dispassionate accuracy of the causes of the war, and of the developments that made it inevitable that the United States should take up its part of the bloody burden. The political strategy of this war has been no less important, no less interesting than its military operations and the fullest attention has been paid to this feature. Scores of photographers have risked their lives that the world may know what war is like, and the reader gets the carefully skimmed cream of their work. This edition - the fourth to be issued brings the narrative down to March 1918. From it is omitted no vital or significant episode of the titanic struggle which is beggaring the world today.
