Item description

The One-Eyed Man by Larry L. King 1966 NAL HC/DJ Signed The One-Eyed Man Larry L. King New York: The New American Library 1966 First edition 309 pages Inscribed by the author The binding is in acceptable condition, the pages are clean but lightly tanned. There is an inscription to the previous owner dated 1966 by the author on the half title page and there is a pencil mark on the front end paper. The dark blue cover shows light wear. The front flap is clipped and the jacket is toned and has a small amount of edge wear. Good in good dust-jacket. Hardcover. The story begins with the Supreme Court ruling that Negroes must be admitted to the State University, a decision that comes at the start of a hot three sided contest for the governorship. There is the ensuing campaign with its practice whoopla, insane grinning, and precinct dogfalls; the effort to enroll Hamilton Davenport, a Negro in the University, which splits the state from hell to breakfast; the cornpone buddhas who rant in the state legislature; the splendid misery of the story narrator's rocky romance with his songbird lady.
