Sailing to Charles Town, South Carolina, to seek his fortune, Angus Ferguson witnesses slaves being thrown from the ship, Indian Queen. His report of this brings about attempts to murder him. At the urging of friends who fear for his safety, Angus agrees to journey deep into Cherokee country to serve as trading post clerk at Fort Loudoun under Captains John Stuart and Paul Demere. Along the way, he learns more about the strange country he had come to and how to survive in it from Abram, a slave and skilled woodsman, and Tsalohi, a Cherokee youth his own age. As the friendship between Angus and Tsalohi grows, so does the tension between their peoples. The red wind from the East, which signifies war to the Cherokees, has been blowing across North America, where the French and English battle for control of a continent. Its gusts reach deep into the mountain home of Cherokees and the long English fort. Then it happens! Fort Loudoun is surrounded by angry Cherokees under the command of the war chief Oconostota. Food runs low, morale drops, there is talk of desertion. The only hope is that reinforcements can traverse the miles of mountain and forest to relieve them. What do fate and the red wind hold for Tsalohi, Fort Loudoun, and young Angus Ferguson? Will Combine Shipping at .50 per book on multiple orders.
