Item description

Okay, we got a drooler! This lovely vintage Crown Trifari brooch is a collector's delight! An Alfred Philippe design, this style comes in both the King-size and smaller, Queen-sizes. This brooch is the larger of the two, the King's brooch. The one defect that stood out when I first looked at it is, the large red jelly cabs aren't as tightly set as they were when it was original. But the cabs themselves are lovely, with only minimal visible wear to the naked eye. Meticulously stored for good reason, this beautiful brooch is signed 5 times! The signatures are: Crown Trifari in the early version, the word "STERLING", the phrase "DES PAT NO" with the patent number "137542", AND the stone setter number #15! If that's not enough, look very closely at the dead-center in the last photo, you can see the number of infinite abundance, an 8, is lightly engraved there. When you consider that Trifari once had three founding members, the stone setter number 15 indicates this brooch was crafted by one of the earlier jewelers. My guess is, that an earlier employee, who's stone setter number was number 8, did the final examination and check before offering the brooch to what was likely, a private client. Each piece of Trifari jewelry was hand-crafted, so, the lower the stone setter number, the more rare and valuable the piece. A true rare find, this is also, the earlier version of the crown brooches produced by Trifari under this patent. Notice the double row of white rhinestones on each side crossing the breast. This rhinestone-road indicates this brooch is the older, originally produced, version of the patent. The crown brooches with the single row, are authentic and just as lovely, but they are remakes produced later on. This brooch is also gold-Trifanium plated over sterling silver. Trifari's patented "Trifanium" was preferred over other forms of gold plating in its day, because the plating was three times that of other manufacturers, with the idea that it would make the Trifari pieces more durable, and more beautiful for longer periods of time. This brooch is a shining example of how well this process survived the test of time and is sure to be the star of your vintage antique collection. All the crystals are present, safely intact; the pin mechanism has been tested and holds as expected, but as I said, this is the larger King-size, so best to expect a noticable weight when you wear it. For best long term wear, remember that this is a rare antique, so, best not to store it face down, take care to ensure the environment is dry/mold-mildew free, and with a style like this, it's most secure if you wear it with an outfit where the settings have less chance to catch on the fabric. Not suitable for wear around small children. Due to the item value, please be sure you have read my terms of service policies prior to purchasing this item.
