Rare Vintage Fisher Price #2021 Record Playback Telephone Complete/NR MINT! Vintage Fisher Price #2021 Record and Playback Telephone COMPLETE/ NEAR MINT! (MORE PHOTOS BELOW) Here is a SUPER-RARE, Vintage Fisher Price #2021 Record and Playback Telephone! Made for only 1 year (1990-91), this toy was one of the best dramatic play toys Fisher Price ever introduced. Virtually every child loves to hear their own voice---even low frequency communicators! Being a former Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, this toy was one of the best inducers I ever found to encourage a child to imitate my vocalizations and/or verbally communicate on their own. Sturdily constructed out of heavy duty plastic, this old fashioned pay phone requires 4 AA batteries to operate (not included with purchase). To operate the device, the child lifts the phone off the receiver hook, which activates the machine. The child can then insert one or more coins in the slot and watch the coin travel down the inner workings of the phone. After consulting a rotating "picture telephone directory," the child may elect to "call" a friend, their father, mother etc. by punching in their respective numbers on the key pad. The child may also decide to call someone else and punch in any number they choose. Using a closed loop tape, the telephone records anything the child says for a period of up to 8 seconds. A red light, located just above the key pad, comes on and the phone emits a beeping sound to alert the child when it is ready to record. When the light goes off, the phone stops recording the child's voice and automatically replays whatever the child said back to him/her. The phone continues to operate for up to 16 cycles or until the phone is hung back up in its receiver cradle. To save on batteries, the phone turns itself off automatically whenever 16 cycles have elapsed or until the phone is hung up. After 16 cycles, the child must hang up the phone to restart another cycle. I can't stress enough....this is an EXTRAORDINARY toy!!! Children just can't get enough of it. They love inserting the coins and retrieving them from the pull down coin slot. I used an identical Fisher Price Record and Playback Phone when I worked at a Children's Hospital in Houston. Keeping young children motivated during lengthy testing sessions can often be a challenge. However, I discovered that if I employed a "Magic Box" filled with interesting and novel toys, I could gently support the child's efforts to "hang in there" and finish by promising them a "play break" after they had completed a section of the testing. The children looked forward to these "play breaks" and I could obtain a representative sampling of their best efforts on standardized tests. I could also sometimes get a spontaneous "language sample" as the child chatted on the phone to others. I also utilized the phone to engage young children in short-term memory tasks. I would say the desired word(s) and then extend the phone receiver to the child to say it after me. This made the task more "game-like" and not as intrusive to young children under 3. For children that weren't at the word level, I could often get them to repeat non-speech sounds using this device (e.g. making animal sounds or other sound effects). This enabled me to construct a map of which sounds the child had in their repertoire that could later be fashioned into words. This is a riveting toy for children, with or without language delays. I've only run across three of these sets in over 10 years. One is in my personal collection and this is the only other one I still have left for sale. The audio fidelity during the playback is wonderful and not distorted. (I personally checked this phone again and it is working PERFECTLY). NOTE: This playset originally came with four, different colored .25 cent coins (e.g. red, blue, yellow, and green). Since I didn't have yellow .25 coin, I substituted another blue .25 coin in its place. Finally, I have also included a copy of the original instructions for your perusal. I will be thoroughly Q-tip cleaning this toy and its 4 accessory coins prior to sending it to its new owner. This toy weighs 3 lbs., 3 oz. UNWRAPPED. My location is Lafayette, IN (47905). Don't miss out on this exciting and highly motivating toy:) Insert one of four coins to make a call to a friend, family member, or the operator. Kids just love to watch the coins careen down inside the telephone! The phone records the child's voice on a closed loop tape whenever the red light comes on. "Spent" coins may be retrieved in the coin slot. Batteries are securely housed in compartment in the back of the set. They can only be accessed using a Phillips screwdriver. The phone automatically shuts itself off if it hung up or runs through 16 cycles (see description). PayPal is the preferred manner of payment. All payments are due within 5 business days of the listing's conclusion. I also accept bank-issued Cashier's Checks and Postal Money Orders. Due to my bank's policies, I am unable to ship your item until these forms of payment clear my bank (usually within 3 business days). Please contact me if you would like to pay via a Cashier's Check or a Postal Money Order. The price listed is for the item itself. The total amount due will be the purchase price of the item the ACTUAL shipping cost to deliver your item to you. All shipping costs or extra fees (in the case of Canadian shipments) are the responsibility of the buyer. I will do everything in my power to find you the cheapest shipping rateโ€”-whether itโ€™s the USPS (First Class, Parcel, or Priority), Fed Ex, or UPS. I DO NOT PAD MY SHIPPING COSTSโ€”-NEVER HAVE AND NEVER WILL! I SHIP WITHIN 48 HOURS OF A CLEARED PAYMENT. I primarily utilize Fed Ex Home Delivery for items exceeding 5 lbs. in weight, measuring greater than 12 inches in any dimension, or traveling longer distances. Iโ€™ve been finding Fed Ex has been running @33% cheaper than the USPS (including Parcel Post) and UPS Ground. FYI, another benefit of using either Fed Ex or UPS is that their quote includes up to 100 worth of FREE insurance. Additional amounts of insurance may be purchased for a nominal fee (that is much less than the USPS). Fed Ex also provides automated tracking updates re: your parcelโ€™s whereabouts directly to your personal e-mail account. In order to ship Fed Ex (or UPS for that matter), I MUST have a residential or work place address, NOT a P.O. Box number, as well as a home or cell phone. Otherwise, they will not accept the shipping paperwork or transport your item. Since Bonanza's shipping calculator does NOT offer Fed Ex Home Delivery as a shipping option, PLEASE DO NOT SEND PAYMENT UNTIL I HAVE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO MANUALLY CHECK THESE RATES AND INSERT THEM INTO YOUR INVOICE. Otherwise, the shipping calculator may overcharge you. Packages traveling to Alaska or Hawaii will be shipped Parcel Post via the USPS. Insurance and delivery confirmation are required. Iโ€™m more than willing to combine multiple purchases into one box whenever it is safe to do so to decrease your shipping costs. Once again, PLEASE wait to check out until I can combine your purchases on ONE INVOICE and can calculate their combined shipping rate via Fed Ex. If you pay for these items separately, I get charged multiple transaction fees by PayPal plus you get over-charged on your shipping. Of course, I will refund you any amount over 1.00 that you've overpaid on shipping. However, it's easier on both of us if you wait until I can send you the correct amount. Iโ€™m more than happy to ship selected play sets to Canada. Remember that shipping to Canada can be quite expensive so please contact me for a shipping quote before you purchase an item. I will attempt to find the cheapest shipping rate possible. Canadian customers will be responsible for any brokerage fees, Customโ€™s duties, or VATโ€™s imposed by your government. I am not responsible for these charges. Insurance is required for all international shipments. Last, but not least, I offer a 10% discount for orders totaling 125.00 or more. ALL SALES ARE FINAL. NO RETURNS ARE ACCEPTED. I have attempted to bring any noted "imperfections" to your attention prior to your purchasing the item. However, I'm only human. If I have missed something or you have a problem with your purchase, please contact me prior to leaving feedback. Customer satisfaction is #1 for me. I try to provide outstanding service, high quality merchandise, and secure and expedient shipping. Feedback is important and I will be happy to leave you feedback once I know everything has arrived safely and that you are pleased with your purchase. Leaving me feedback helps me gauge how well I'm doing and also serves the Bonanza community by directing them to sellers who proffer outstanding merchandise and service. txzj pxzj2038 txzj71
