Ooh-la-Lagerfeld: Macy’s meets Chanel with New Capsule Collection

If you’re like me, chances are, at least occasionally, that you dream in Chanel.  In my magical fashion fantasies, Karl Lagerfeld swoops into my life as a fairy godfather, bestowing me with more blazers and bags than my closet can hold.

Capsule collections seem tailor made for champagne taste/beer budget stylistas such as myself.  When I haven’t been quite ready to sell an organ or limb for the perfect Rodarte dress or a Matthew Williamson tank, there have been miraculous brand offshoots at budget-conscious retailers Target, H&M and the like.  Unfortunately, there are misses (Mulberry for Target—please erase the horror from my brain), but more often than not, these designer dabbles fulfill label lust.

Take, for instance, Karl Lagerfeld’s newly-debuted collection for Macy’s.  The middle America department store has always struggled to land on the radar of the well-heeled and well-dressed (no matter how many glitzy celeb-filled commercials they throw our way), but Macy’s may finally have a shot at style superstardom with Lagerfeld’s guest appearance.

Dress $99

While gauzy tees bearing the designer’s likeness rank high in creep factor, structured shorts, Technicolor scarves, and pristine ladies-who-lunch frocks are as to die for as some of their haute couture counterparts.

Shorts $79 and Tank $69

Printed Scarf $49

Blush Dress $119

Tweed Dress $129

With prices ranging from $50 to $170, I’m betting this stunning collab will be gone from shelves mere days after its August 31 launch.

Now if only Uncle Karl would introduce the $200 Chanel quilted flap handbag…

What looks are on your wish lists?
