TurboTraffic Packs: Do They Work?

TurboTraffic Packs: Do They Work?

It’s been just 2 weeks since we launched our new TurboTraffic Packs service for Bonanza sellers, and it’s time to check on the results. Hundreds of merchants have given TurboTraffic Packs a try, but was it worth it? Did they get a tidal wave of new shoppers in their booths, and were their sales lifted by a meaningful amount?

Fortunately, the answer is a resounding “YES!” That’s good news for the TurboTraffic programmers here at Bonanza, because otherwise they would have been immediately fired1. But it’s also good news for Bonanza merchants, because it provides a fast and easy way to boost your sales anytime.

How much of a difference did it make for the merchants who gave it a try? The numbers are in: the merchants who tried TurboTraffic Packs saw an average 306.4% increase in daily sales revenue. In other words, their sales tripled - that’s a major impact on your bottom line.

TurboTraffic Packs are one-time “booster packs” you can purchase to increase your shopper traffic for a short period of time, usually several days. You can buy just one pack at a time, or you can purchase up to 10 packs that will run back-to-back. Here’s an example of an actual Bonanza merchant that used TurboTraffic Packs to boost their sales:

Take a look at the yellow line in the above graph, because that’s how much this merchant's shopper traffic increased while the TurboTraffic Pack was active. Here’s another example (remember, this is an actual Bonanza merchant using TurboTraffic Packs):

This merchant went from selling an average of 6 items per day, all the way up to an average of 40 items per day during the TurboTraffic Pack. That’s impressive, especially considering that TurboTraffic Packs cost just $25. Note that results can vary from merchant to merchant - it depends on your products, conversion rate, and other factors. If you're selling snow shovels, you might want to hold off on purchasing TurboTraffic Packs during the hot summer months.

You don’t have to be a Pro member to buy TurboTraffic Packs - they’re available to all Bonanza sellers. If you are a Pro member, then you already know how effective TurboTraffic is for your business, and adding Packs will bring even more shoppers to your booth.

Thanks to all of you early adopters who tried TurboTraffic Packs during the the first couple weeks of launch - we appreciate you, and we’re delighted that it really paid off! We’re continuing to tune and improve our system to bring even more shoppers and sales to TurboTraffic users, so you can expect Packs to become even more effective in the future.

And if you haven’t tried TurboTraffic yet? The proof is in the pudding: TurboTraffic Packs bring more shoppers and more sales to your Bonanza booth. Give it a try!

1 We wouldn’t really have fired them, especially since one of them is the CEO. But we may have put them on garbage duty for the remainder of the year.

Based on my personal experience this pack is awesome. My sales increased 292% in a short 2 weeks long period. My only problem is how can i buy this pack via paypal not bankcard.

That’s great news! Glad to see it’s working well for you. Have you ever tried a Platinum Pro or a Titan membership? Those memberships get TurboTraffic every month and can be billed to PayPal.

I only made enough to cover the fee before it expired.

I’m glad you gave it a try! We’re still tuning and improving the service, so you may get better results if you try it again in the future. Keep in mind that breaking even is still a good thing, because it’s exposing your products to new shoppers that could become customers (or repeat customers) later on.

The increase in sales was minimal and the second package I bought didn’t even last day – so no way to know.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I took at peek at your booth and can see that you got a large increase in traffic, so hopefully some of those lookie-loo’s will come back to buy. Thanks for giving it a try!

So, if we dont do the turbo pack, then our listings are held back from being seen by prospective buyers?

Skykomish says in response: 12/18/15 at 10:00:02

Hi Misskeech, thank you for your question. TurboTraffic does not hold back any traffic at all, it brings in purely additional traffic from search engines like Google.

I don’t understand why a ecommerce website that generates income when sellers sell their products would make a seller buy traffic?? Bonanza should drive traffic to every seller’s booth so sellers can get sales and bonanza can make their commission? This makes perfect sense and I’m not sure what the logic behind this charging sellers to bring customers to their store?

Skykomish says in response: 12/18/15 at 10:20:14

That’s a great question, thank you for asking. The logic makes sense if you think about how paid advertising works.

While Bonanza already brings millions of shoppers to the site every month (organically and through paid advertising), we can only pay so much to advertise any given seller because we need to at least break even in order to stay in business.

For example if Bonanza paid $10 on advertising to bring a shopper to your booth, and that shopper bought something for $50, Bonanza might make just $1.75 on the FVF (for a net loss of $8.25). If we did that repeatedly, we’d quickly go out of business.

However, if the seller paid $10 on advertising to bring that sale, and the seller had a 40% margin on the product, the seller would make $20 (for a net profit of $10 for the seller). If we did that repeatedly, the seller would be profitable every time.

Those numbers are exaggerated, but it helps to explain why it can be a profitable approach for sellers to assist in paid traffic using TurboTraffic.

So if we buy a turbo pack, will we still be charged our chosen advertising fee of 13%, 19%, etc? If so, that is definitely double dipping.

Skykomish says in response: 12/18/15 at 10:27:40

Excellent question! Keep in mind that the higher commission rates (13%, 19% etc.) are specifically for advertising – so, each time you make a sale while TurboTraffic is running, we can re-invest the fee into more advertising, to bring even more shoppers to your booth.

When you make sales while TurboTraffic is running, the FVF re-investment can cause a chain reaction that continues to bring additional shoppers. Some of our sellers with popular products have entered a perpetual TurboTraffic mode, because they sell enough items per page view that we can afford to keep TurboTraffic running indefinitely.
