This is a substantial ceramic tabby cat planter in a sitting pose. It was made in Japan and most likely dates to the 1950s. This striped feline, with the piercing green eyes and intense expression, stands 7” high and is 4.75” wide. It measures 5.25” from front to back. The opening measures 3.25” by 2.25”. The kitty cat is done in gray and black with touches of other colors. His head has some tan; his nose and the inside of his ears are pink, and he is wearing a blue bow tie. The piece is in very good used condition. There are no cracks. There is small under the glaze chip on the rim which is a manufacturing flaw. There is age-related crazing of the glaze. The glaze has retained its clarity and gloss. The inside is glazed and just needs a gentle cleaning. The bottom of the piece is incised Made in Japan. Shipping weight will be 2 lbs.
