Real-time Digital Downloads Now Available on Bonanza

Wanna buy my digitally-delivered eBook on how to sell digitally-delivered eBooks? ;-)

What if you could make huge margins? While you sleep? Without having to pack and ship anything at all?

Introducing the brand new Digital Downloads service on Bonanza. Now Bonanza sellers can upload and sell any digital good that can be downloaded and used by buyers [1].

What sorts of digital goods? Well, the possibilities are darned near endless. But here are some ideas to get your creative juices flowing:

  • MP3 music
  • Training videos
  • Sewing patterns
  • Recipes
  • Computer software
  • Digital art
  • PDF eBooks

The beauty of digital downloads is that it's a great source of passive income. Once you make the product, it can be sold and downloaded over and over again - without any seller intervention. And it's great for buyers, because they can get the product immediately after purchase. No more waiting around for the delivery truck.

This is a brand new feature [2], so we'll continue to improve and refine it. If you have any feedback for us, please let us know!

Learn how to sell Digital Downloads on the Bonanza help pages. Also, maybe this is common sense, but you must have the legal rights [1] to digital goods before you can sell them online.

We're curious: Have you ever considered selling digital goods before? What sorts of digital goods could you make and sell? Do you think you'll give this a try?

[1] As with anything you sell online, you must own the legal rights to distribute it. So, no ripping that Grateful Dead CD and trying to sell it in your booth. (Even if Jerry would have approved.) Before selling digital goods on Bonanza, read our digital download policy.

[2] Digital Downloads is a Platinum Pro member feature. If you aren't currently a Platinum seller, please take a look at the impressive (and growing!) list of benefits that Platinum has to offer

This is a fantastic feature, but why is it limited only to paying Platinum sellers?
Am I correct in assuming all sellers can seller digital download products, but only Platinum members can use the file upload tool? Delivery by other sellers would have to be by email.
Is there a cost involved in using this? If so, would it be possible to offer it to all sellers, but with a higher final value fee which would offset the cost?
I can see tremendous potential in this, but would like to see it available to all Bonanza sellers.

Hi MyTexasTreasures, thank you for your earnest questions and suggestions. If you’re already selling digital products then you can definitely continue doing it the way you’ve been doing it all along! This additional feature is just one way to save time and effort for people who don’t mind paying a little more for a Platinum membership in order to save the time/hassle of shipping via email etc.

I love the idea that Bonanza has come up with this feature but am disappointed that this selling tool has been placed under a premium membership. As a Crafter, I can use this feature on two other selling sites on the net for FREE.

As a buyer, I have purchased MANY times patterns and craft books via this “instant” download product availability (from other sites). I prefer this over having to WAIT for the paper product in the mail.

I wish Bonanza would reconsider this method of selling to the general community of Bonanza Members.

Please make available to Gold Members too…

If I had more sales here, I would be willing to pay the extra amount for the higher membership. And I would certainly use this feature. But, the sales just aren’t here to justify the additional expense.

I totally understand, EventfulLabels. The Platinum membership level is targeted at higher-volume sellers to help them save time when they’re bogged down with lots of orders. When your sales volume increases, I hope you’ll consider a Platinum membership to help you keep up – “too many” orders is a problem we can all hope for!

Sounds interesting for the future — I am still building my sales here.

I also would like see it to be available for all Bonanza sellers.

a trial period for all sellers would be welcome. then we can test the demand for this option.

TheHotAttic says: 01/26/14 at 02:35:31

I can already sell my PDFs on another site without having to pay a monthly fee for any membership.

Skykomish says in response: 01/27/14 at 17:54:30

You’re absolutely right TheHotAttic – in fact you can also sell them on Bonanza without requiring a membership. This is just to help higher-volume sellers to save time instead of emailing the items to buyers, if they so choose. But the email method works just fine for many sellers!

you guys need to reconsider how this is presented to bonanza users.

I already offer digital art work – not as a download – but as something that is emailed to a customer – sell many of these at my other stores – but not here if there is a high membership required. I still have to do the artwork before sending it digitally.

Skykomish says in response: 01/27/14 at 17:36:54

Hi JMB7339 – just to clarify, this probably wouldn’t work for you if each piece of artwork you sell is unique. This is more for sellers who sell many copies of the same digital item. Sorry! :-/

I would like to see this option available to all sellers. Personally, I have had such a drop in my sales over the past year (sometimes going as long as 6 weeks with a sale), that I cannot justify paying for any membership. It seems to me that most all of the useful tools you introduce are only for paying members, leaving those of us whose sales are low still struggling to make it.

Skykomish says in response: 01/27/14 at 17:50:17

I understand, TexasCountryDesigns. The memberships might not work for everybody, depending on your situation. We do have the Silver level for as low as just $8/month if you ever want to give it at try and see whether it helps.
