How do i identify an american girl doll?

I bought an American Girl doll second hand. The tag on her body says 2008. The back of her neck is imprinted with Pleasant Company and below it 33 C3. Who is she? She has waist length blond hair with bangs and blue eyes. ![URL removed]

Don’t let the 2008 on the body tag fool you – its a factory number not a date. Many older and retired dolls have that tag.

If you part your doll’s hair in the back (as if for braids on either side) and see shorter hairs along the part then your blue-eyed blonde is Kirsten from the Historical collection. If the hair is all the same length then its probably an American Girl from the Just Like You line.

Now that I see the picture she looks like a Just Like You American Girl. Kirsten’s bangs are a bit different and Kirsten’s hair color is more of a lighter ash blonde shade.

Hi emmesattic,
I found a site dedicated to your find. They list current and retired American Girl dolls. Some of these dolls were sold for quite a bit of money.

You can browse through pictures to find the one that matches yours. Here’s the link… [URL removed]

Hope this helps!

The first AG bodies were white. And made in Germany by Gotz. They are now owned by Mattel and made in China.

American Girl made dolls other then the Historical dolls. They are made dolls to order to match the girls they were being made for and other styles. We really need more information then just what it says on the tag to id her.

It is not easy to identify toys. I think it can be done with the help of someone who knows something about it, or maybe in an antique shop can suggest.

I agree, no problem to do it

I am not even sure… Why would you try to identify toys?
