Welcome betty6908,
Bonanza is not like eBay. Bonanza is better and different. The majority of us left eBay or still sell a few items here and there at eBay, but we are here as it feels like home. You do not need to pay a membership. This is where new sellers think they better hurry and buy a membership. I suggest no as you are not familiar with the site. Open a free booth, fill it with your items and see how things go for you. I have only had a free booth since 2009. Sales were slow at first because I had no idea how Bonanza worked. Now I know and I have sales. You have to be willing to promote your booth by way of social media. Promote as in Pinning at Pinterest, Tweeting at twitter, posting at Facebook, etc. it’s a lot of work, but once you promote you will drive traffic to your items then you will either have sales or not. Bonanza sends our items out to Google, but you are ultimately the one to make sure traffic is driven to your booth by way of promoting. A lot of us get together and help each other promote. There are sellers like Customseatcreations who will promote for us for a small fee as well as hang a panel with the name of your booth for a small fee. Stop by when you have a chance and leave Becky a note she will contact you. Not sure if she is still promoting, but you can ask.
Set your percentage at 9% to get started. If you decide to import later from Bonanza to eBay you will need to set your percentage at 13% for just the imported item or items. The help section gives answers to all your questions. You may search all your questions there or ask. eBay has lots of fees. Sellers here at Bonanza sign in each day and collect tokens which the tokens saved over time can be applied to your billing statement. eBay is fee happy, Bonanza is “Praise” happy.
If I can be of any help please let me know. Good luck!
Rita

have had a booth on Bonanza since 2009. Although I never really sold much, the best years for my booth were [phone number removed] with very few sales since that time.I rarely ever sell anything here anymore …sold 2 items in past 2+ years…tried all levels of advertising but 0 sales from it. I don’t do social media so I tried the higher levels of advertising but that was futile. It seems the only benefit I get out of Bonanza is a free storage facility for my listings when they are not on eBay. Just as on any selling venue, there are sellers that do very well here- I’m just not one of them. Bonanza does not advertise the site so sellers have to bring their own traffic & do all their own advertising.
I doubt there is little benefit for a new seller to have a store on Bonanza unless money is no object. It’s probably best to test the waters with the free booth before investing monies in a webstore or any level of membership.

If it is going to take 8 years to get sales, I’m not sure I will live that long. I’m 73 and don’t know if I want to learn Bookface and Tweeter. You would think that with over 50,000 sellers, one or two of them would be actual buyers and accidentally trip over my site. I have been here over a month and have a Silver membership and get a whopping average of 15 item views a day with over 1,000 sewing patterns listed. I’m starting to think this was a big waste of my time. I could create my own FREE website and promote it myself and have 0 fees. Not entirely sure why this is listed as " “Most Recommended Marketplace” over eBay, Amazon, and Etsy". I guess it is cheaper, if you don’t mind No Sales.
