Kitchenaid mixers & products

Do KitchenAid Professional products last a long time or is it just the brand name that makes their various products so costly?

More [URL removed] Is the (heavy in weight) MiXER a high or low maintenance item?

Do the parts for the mixer have to be kept lubricated to avoid rusting or is it like any other mixers where it can sit for a long period of time until the next usage?

Someone left the cake out in the rain > help please with your input!

We’ve had a refurbished Kitchen Aid 6 Qt (Professional 6) for several years now. We have never lubricated it or any of the attachments. We have never seen any rust, then again we live in a semi-arid climate so when the humidity gets above 40% people start to complain about how muggy it is. We don’t have all of the attachments, but have found that some seem to work better than others. Or rather, we can’t get the end product to work as we would like. The pasta attachment, for example, pushes the spaghetti through just fine. But, either the dough is too wet and it all sticks together, or it is too dry and it crumbles. If you were going to purchase one, I would suggest the 5qt over the 6qt only because things like spare bowls, hooks, and the like are much easier to find. After several years of on and off service we have finally started to notice our first occasional problem. The speed selector switch is starting to get a little loose, so if we are trying to slowly nudge the speed up or down we will occasionally have it not want to do that. Otherwise, no problems.

I have a Kitchenaid stand mixer for almost 10 years. I’ve never done anything to maintain it.

My only complaint would be that I wish it came with bowls of different sizes. There are times when you need a mixer but hate to deal with the very large bowl I have.

I only have the attachements that came with the original mixer. Nothing extra.

Worth every penny. I have had my Kitchen Aid stand mixer (with all the attachments)since 1979. Absolutely no maintenance. No lubricating ever! I love to cook and it gets used a lot. Never had any problems with it. I especially love the meat grinder attachment.

Love mine! It’s the Pro one and Boy have I put it through it’s paces. Geesh….It has whipped up some really crazy thick batter over and over again…Never a Problem.

I’ve never had to oil or lubricate a thing and it keeps on like it was brand new.

Worth every hard earned penny!

Kitchenaid dishwashers are fabulous. Several of my friends have the mixers (really old ones) and they have never needed maintentance.
Perhaps Kitchenaid has a toll free customer service number to call?

KichenAid is a good brand….thats way is more expensive and have some colorful items (red)…For sure the brand is better than Rival or Walmart ones.
Any mixer would have problem (if uses belts) sitting for a long time.
Beside that, any small appliance should have to be ant-roach free.
Some insects like electric stuff for living. thats funny.

If a Kitchenaid mixer were running for president – I would definitely vote for it. It keeps it’s promises. Had mine for over 20 years and NO PROBLEMS.

Montrose, I have my Mom’s KitchenAid Mixer, it’s by far the best. I don’t know how old it is, been around forever. It’s a workhorse. Mom was a scratch baker and used this constantly.

Literally, nothing has been done for maintenance and works perfectly. It’s just a really well made product. Wish some other things were as well made.
You can’t go wrong with this brand. Good luck. Happy Baking!

Montrose—the pro models of Kitchen Aid are the ‘Rolex’ of kitchen appliances! I would stake my reputation as a former chef on them! They are well made, easy to keep clean, have a million and one attachments for them, and will last forever and a day! You can not go wrong with Kitchen Aid mixers—especially the one you mentioned! When I worker for a big-time French chef—he had the same mixer in his kitchen! They are as well made as the old time Waring Blenders—which I just happen to have one for sale, btw….hint, hint!
