How to file for paypal seller protection?

I have a buyer telling me his order never arrived from Jan 25. USPS tracking shows delivered Feb 1. I’ve looked all over paypal for seller protrection, found plenty of info on how to be eligible but nothing on how to actually open a claim? Help appreciated. Thanks.

You don’t have to file a claim. It is up to the buyer if he wants to make a claim for an Item Not Received (INR). PayPal will then notify you about the claim. You can then upload tracking information showing that the item was delivered and you will be protected from having to supply any refund.

See the 5th and 6th sections on that page. Make SURE that you respond to PayPal’s request(s) for information.

Buyer didn’t file with PayPal, just emailed me. So I can’t refund buyer than file claim for seller protection?

If You send to the address indicated in PayPal record, then You are automatically under seller protection. You only need to answer to Your buyer’s last e-mail and inform that the USPS track&trace page confirms delivery (keep all conversation for any future references).

Also, politely ask the customer to check with family members and even neighbours… After that, it’s up to the Buyer, if She/He opens a case with PP, then You will be notified. Check regularly Your PayPal e-mail address, in order NOT to missed any correspondence from them.

While it could have been MIS-delivered, probably was a victim of Porch Pirates because buyer did not have a secure place to receive pkg. PO does not insure against Porch Pirates even if Priority Mail is used (Priority auto insured).

@rsimandl… You do NOT need to refund (nor should you) because the P.O.says the item was delivered. If the buyer paid with PayPal, the buyer can file a claim. However, YOU will win the case as the item was delivered. If you want to refund the buyer, it’s because you want to be a nice person.

… However, YOU will NOT get any money back from PayPal. That is not how Seller protection works. Also, it’s amazing how many buyers “find” their packages after confronted with the knowledge that you are not going to refund due to the fact that they can’t “find” their package after it was delivered

Also ask the buyer to check with their post office. I had a buyer over Christmas email me that she had not received her package. Tracking showed it was delivered at a front desk, which ended up being the front desk of the post office. I do not know why when the address showed her physical address…

EmpressDepot says: February 25, 2019

that it went to AND stayed at her post office. Needless to say, once I mentioned to her that tracking showed it was delivered at front desk, she went to her PO and emailed me that she had picked up the package.

With PayPal and ebay one and the same – what happens to all those buyers and sellers? Along with all the competition from Apple Pay, google, and maybe CurrentC – this is not the time to have poorly perceived user agreements!
