Hi bvaughn :) We used to love to go drive somewhere to watch fireworks (or an occasional show), but besides crazy drivers who partied too much :( we now prefer home. Biggest thing though, is our cats. They are terrified of the noise and shaking of our house LOL but seriously, we are surrounded on 3 sides by neighbors who like to purchase the show worthy ones that go high and burst into small ones. We have trees surrounding our yard and a metal roof on the back porch. It sounds like bullets riddling our roof and I’m pretty sure that when my husband is able to have time and energy to replace or build a new one, he will find so many little holes and pit marks in the roof. No wonder we have leaks when it rains!! I continually pray that they will not catch our trees on fire and burn down our house!!! I guess I’ve become somewhat of a “party pooper” because considering that, and our poor cats, it’s not a fun time, anymore. But 250 years is awesome and I do get it, never-the-less. Happy 4th, my friend!

Greetings @AudiLee – I completely relate!
When I was younger, I liked the excitement, the crowds, the noise, the glorious exploding colors & the SMELL of fireworks.
My favorite was one year near a lake – the reflection of the sky doubled the view. It changed the acoustics too.
But this year I turn 62. I like being home.
Crazy drivers – yes!
People are too busy to drive…
My husband & I also live in an area with trees all around, with neighbors on a few sides with pretty cool fireworks displays – plenty make it above the tree line.
This year we’ve had plenty of rain, so that’s a blessing.
Happy Independence Day to you & yours!
