Quick wit and quick aim were predominant qualities of the mysterious stranger known as the Gamblin' Kid. He entered town at a time when extraordinary happenings were going on at the Blue Streak Mine and the nearby ranches: stage coach holdups, kidnapping, and baffling murder; when gambling stakes grew higher and wilder nightly at the Gila Monster Saloon and Dance Hall; and peaceful ranch folks, especially the lovely Marian, shunned the town. How the Kid rescues Marian and then becomes suspect of a cowardly plot; how he thwarts the plans of the treacherous gang that terrorize the town; how the sheriff makes him a deputy and the Kid proves his mettle and vindicates the unasked trust, is related in a series of gripping adventures, packed with excitement and suspense, which reach their climax when the Kid gambles everything on the turn of the cards at the Gila Monster, and later when Marian and the Kid decide to take "the greatest gamble of all."
