Item description
In Russian. Short description: Gradovsky Z. In the heart of hell. Notes found in the ashes near the ovens of Auschwitz. Compilation, natschn. Ed., comment., foreword. And P.Polyan's application. Transl. From Yiddish A. Polyan and M. Karpa.- M.: GAMMA-PRESS, 2011.-280 p., ill. In the first edition of the book (Gamma-Press, M., 2010), for the first time, without distortion and cuts, all the found texts of Zalman Gradovsky, one of the members of the Sonderhommando in Auschwitz-Birkenau, who died on October 7, 1944 during the uprising, were presented. His notes, found in the ashes near the crematorium, without exaggeration can be called one of the central documents of the Holocaust. This second edition is supplemented by a detailed appendix by P. Polyan, which explores the Sonderkommando phenomenon, analyzes the facts of the historical tragedy in Auschwitz-Birkenau, and also describes the history of the discovery and publication of written testimonies of Sonderkommando members.
