Item description
JENNY
By Ada Cook Lewis.
New York: Rinehart Company, Inc., (1956).
First edition, first printing.
Rinehart's first printing 'R' seal to the copyright page.
The California author and historian's first novel, set in a well-depicted Georgian England, offers a "Hogarthian picture of London" and follows saucy-tongued "Jenny's progress from the city's amoral beau monde to the immoral denziens of Newgate prison".
Well-preserved and in presentable, collectible condition.
A hint of rubbing to the upper and lower spine edges, else very nearly fine, square, and tight in fresh amber linen with embossed bold burgundy titles and bright white decorations to the spine; in a lightly dust-soiled near fine dust jacket with character portrait art by Ben Feder, with age-toning to the spine panel; original printed $3.95 price still intact to the front inner flap.
The dust jacket will be placed in a clear, removable, protective sleeve, after scanning for this entry.
