Item description
Every grouping tells a story, some stand out more than others, some stories get lost. Offered here are three small items formerly owned by one Marlin Ross Overholt, of which the dogtag is dated to December of 1944 and the other two being a name badge with velcro backing and flight wings are not as old. Pin stamped as V-21-N or made by Vanguard.
I kind of wondered about the range of age among these few keepsakes until a search made it very plain. This fellow was as patriotic as you get and the moment he turned 18 he went to enlist. (Birth date in November of 1926). He continued with the Naval Reserve long after the war, long enough at least for velcro to get popular, especially on patches. Any of these three items are notable on their own but combined they tell so much more of the story. Mr. Overholt passed away in 2009 and I just acquired these from a "Museum Downsizing Auction". It looks like he may have retired in Pensacola and there are several online tributes to him.
