When the window is down you would rest your arm on this seal. This is one of the easier seals to replace. Mercedes also calls these seals "rails" due to the metal reinforcement inside of the rubber. Due to this reinforcement it is impossible for such a long thin piece to lay perfectly flat out of the package. These rails all have a mild bow which flattens out when installed. There are lots of copies of these seals that aren't shaped quite right, don't fit quite right, squeak and drag against the glass and have to be glued because the dimensions are off.
