City of Constantinople Commemorative ~ celebrating Constantinople as the new capital of Rome issued during the reigns of Constantine and his sons.
Obverse: CONSTANTINOPOLIS, Constantinopolis' laureate crested helmeted bust left in imperial cloak and holding scepter across left shoulder.
Reverse: Victory with open wings in posture of alighting, facing, head left, right foot on a vessel's prow, holding scepter in right hand and leaning on shield with left arm; S - R across fields; SMAL?(Sacra Moneta ALexandria A [A=1at officina]) in exergue--Alexandria mint mark.
