Item description
This is a set of 4 Ceremonial Geisha. In looking for a comparable, which I have done from time to time over the decades, I only found one figurine that could be said to be alike. She wasn't as pretty but her head and hands were hand carved bone, likely oxen, and here Kimino was made of enameled Cloisenne. Also the Base looked to be rosewood and was fastened with a flat head screw, not a phillips screw which was invented in the early 30s but weren't common untill a bit later. Anyway I found my single comp because I searched for anything with Geisha in the title and found here in the SOLD items. That was in 2005. In fact I just tried again without any success. Anyway FYI the sold figure I did find 20 years ago went for $3,500.00. Now if you just like the idea of a Giesha figurine, there are plenty of knock of dolls or toys, some with rather elaborite clothing ranging between $99-$500. I did see one in a case for $1,500 it looked like it may have been a puppet.
As to these 4 four figurines. I feel like they belong together. $3,500 each 20 years ago, how does that translate to today? Just inflation alone kind of puts it out of reach for most people and I don't want that, and well, I guess I don't have to. To keep the 4 together. Lets make it $9,000.00 plus tax insurance S H is on me. Everyting will be included in the price.
