This first American edition, first printing, that was published in Autumn 1925, contains an extra story 'The Centurion' that was not included in the British 1922 first edition. A collection of thirteen stories of ancient times, that draw on mythology, legends, and Doyle's fantasy-minded imagination. Some minor production glue wrinkles to the inside front cover, light foxing to the upper page edges, a few minuscule flecked dots to the covers, very faint horizontal bend-line to the rear cover, else very good plus in original red 'keratol' leather with blind ruled borders to the covers, publisher's colophon embossed in blind to the front cover, tarnished gilt embossed titles and floral band to the spine; no dust jacket.
