*Tom Strong was born in 1899 on the secluded island of Attabar Teru. His father, a brilliant, somewhat eccentric inventor, had sought out this island for its isolation. There Tom was reared in a pressure chamber that simulated five gravities. His parents wore pressure suits when they brought him his meals, which consisted primarily of Goloka root, noted to promote longevity and cognitive awareness. He was essentially another of his father?s experiments. The earthquake that killed his parents when he was nine released him from the chamber. Using his mental acumen, Tom mirrored his father?s affinity for innovation. His superb physical conditioning served him well when he left Attabar Teru to become a super-hero in Millennium City. Considering his bizarre childhood, he seems surprisingly well-adjusted, if somewhat slow in matters of affection.
He eventually married Dhalua, the daughter of the native chief. Tom Strong?s intellectual expertise and superb physique conveys a ?Doc Savage? quality, which is bolstered by his feuding partners, a robot named Pnueman and King Solomon, an educated ape.
