Item description
Day of Infamy by Walter Lord 1957 HC/DJ
Day of Infamy
Walter Lord
New York: Henry Holt and Company
Copyright 1957
Illustrated with photographs
243 pages
Book of the month club edition
The binding is in acceptable condition, the pages are lightly tanning and there is a name written on the front end paper. The blue cover has some fading on the edges. The jacket is edge worn and there is foxing on the flaps and rear of the jacket. Good in acceptable dust-jacket. Hardcover.
The book traces, in brilliant detail, the human drama of the great attack: the spies behind it; the pilots on the Japanese aircraft carriers; the crews on the stricken warships; the men at the airfields and bases; the Japanese pilot who captured an island single handedly when he could not get back to his carrier; the generals, the sailors, the housewives and children responding to the attack with anger, numbness, and magnificent courage.
