The binding is in good condition, the pages are clean but tanned. The dark blue cover has a small amount of edge wear and the front corners are bumped. The jacket has a price sticker on the front flap, has some scuff marks and edge wear and small edge tears. Good in acceptable dust-jacket. Hardcover.
Harry Benedict, richest rancher in the New Mexico territory and owner of Big Hat, had hired Haggarty to outwit Jenkins' gang of rustlers. Benedict didn't like professional gunmen any more than did his daughter Anne, but neither Anne nor her father was any match for Jenkins. Haggarty had appeared on the scene just when things were getting bad, so despite his qualms Benedict took him on. The local law soon resented Haggarty's ruthless tactics in going after the Jenkins gang. Benedict's fears concerning Haggarty were realized...the gunman's methods made him almost as much a menace to the territory as were the rustlers. And Jenkins was forced to admit he had finally run up against a foe worthy of his best tricks and strongest men. The amazingly unexpected means Haggarty chooses to justify himself to Benedict and most importantly, to Anne, makes this one of the most readable, entertaining and exciting of all Western tales.
