I have several identical sets (plates, cups, etc) from same patterns (Apple & the pink Rose) but the hallmarks vary from USA to Franciscan Earthenware, etc.
I am certain the hallmarks vary due to age. Does it really matter if the hallmarks vary since the patterns match?
I’ve researched many online links about Franciscan but most do not mention if it is fairly “acceptable” to buy or sell mixed hallmarks for the same brand in order to use this autumn and/or for the holidays.
Any personal expert advice is appreciated.

I collect the Apple design and bought the main set in Foley’s in the 70’s. I have different hallmarks on mine. As long as they were made in the U.S. and hand painted, not like the English ones now. I actually like to mix them, so I’m definitely not a purist.

There are purists that only collect the mark that they desire. They can differ in weight slight color difference etc. Those who collect it know the differences. I would not mix them unless asked to do so. You could say that you could round out a set with another mark. Or have a mixed one listed and see if it sells? I sold a lot of Franciscan Apple in an Antique Store and they always wanted certain labels. However a harder to find piece would be added like a butter dish regardless of label. Hope that helps.

If someone is buying it just because they like it and want to use it, the newer pieces hold up better. The older pieces chip and crack easily.
So, I would definitely separate by hallmarks and age if I could.
