As people seemed to enjoy trying to solve the mystery here’s another one for you. Go to www.gransgadgets.org and there is another short video there of another object. Can you identify what that is?

Hi Grans, great gadgets you got there…Ok, this one looks like maybe it could be something folks used to hold their “dentures” and/or for cleaning maybe?

I think it’s an old bullet-cleaner. Back when they 1st had revolvers that shot metallic cartridges, the bullets weren’t quite weatherproof. Black powder was especially prone to not fire when damp—So, when the cowboys came back to the ranch—they’d clean the corrosion off their bullets and ‘re-seal’ them with a heavy lubricant of some sort. This little device made that task relatively easy…and from the video, I’d think this one was made for cal. 44 to 45…the .44 rimfire, .44-40 cal. and .45 colt were common calibers of the day—and the cowboys would often have winchester or henry rifles chambered in the same cal. to make those long shots—all with one type of bullet!

I am completely stumped. Used to clean something. Maybe to clean pipe joints before soldering. ??

I honestly have no idea but it seems to be something that is used to clean something else.
