Can anyone give me a mini-lesson (information) on what i believe is called "copper art"?.

I’m doing my best and I can’t find much information on this piece of what I am calling “Copper Art” … it’s a sheet of copper that has an artistic impression of Abe Lincoln and is signed “LE WEBB.” Any help would be greatly appreciated! … might it be old? Am I even calling it by its correct name? Any value? Thanks in advance for any help on this one.

I am not sure that is Abe Lincoln. Also Antique or Vintage pressed copper can be stunning. I would not put this piece in that category.

Do a Google organic search Antique and or Vintage Pressed Copper Art. You can see other examples and judge for yourself.

Good Luck with the piece.

I too made a similar piece of craft when in primary school placing my hands on a metal plate (instead of plaster) following my teacher instructions of bending it to earn creases and such for a wall hanging as a “take home project” at the end of my school year. Yours (to me) does not look like President Lincoln but more like a mentor (grandfather or older person) for someone.
Anyway, good luck in your findings!

Well, actually it looks the way it does because I have not cleaned it and recovered it from doing a walk-thru of an old country house slated to be demolished sometime soon and full of trash, etc. The last person to live in the old pre-civil war house died in 1970. Thanks for your help and the same to anyone else that wants to weigh in on this one… Dan

It’s interesting. I like copper art and have a piece that I purchased that is of flamingos. I made a piece when I was in high school. Can’t help you with the artist, I tried the name and came up with nothing. Could be that it was a school project like mine or we just have not located the artist yet. It’s been given an old “look” on purpose, that beat up and bent background to it was done by the artist I believe, not that I am an expert, I only ever made one piece and I’m not an artist! And it has an interesting choice of materials for the hanger.

Best of luck to you with figuring it out.

[URL removed] Don’t clean it, just soap and water and dry it. Copper collectors want it as grungy as possible or with natural patina as they say, LOL. I was referring to the “wrinkled” effect in the background as the bent background, it’s supposed to be there I believe.

I don’t know, but I still have a copper piece of artwork that my son did in school. They had to create a figure. It was out of copper, so maybe a school project. Is it signed?
