How should i handle this possible inr?

If this were a dime-a-dozen widget, I wouldn’t be asking for help on this. Newbie seller ships rare expensive item 1st Class with no D/C or INS. I even requested they not do that for an item of this cost & rarity. While I’ve had issues with mail in the past year, I’m beginning to suspect that the item was NEVER mailed at all because they think they can get more for it (and they’re right). If I file a claim, sure I’ll get my money back but then the seller can try to re-sell it elsewhere for more. It is a numbered & signed piece of only 50 made. So what could I do to establish that I bought this, never received it – and could prove it if it ever comes back up for sale.

I’m going to talk to my Postmaster tomorrow, and wait until next week. I did just ask seller for a receipt scan, so…

This could all work out in the end – PO ‘finds’ it behind another box – but I still wonder what to do in addition to the obvious Neg if it doesn’t arrive. Thanks for your replies in advance. Denny

[URL removed] It appears the newbie seller is waiting for the hold to end to ship. PP only said funds cleared & seller informed. Seller never said it was for 21 days. Tore PP a new one & enjoyed it!![URL removed] So now this dilemma has changed, and at least I’m not stressing about it. Glad I didn’t file a claim…

BONZ – What’s up with the one line entry field for comments? Please expand it. Thanks!

I will be leaving this open until this is delivered or resolved. So far jsgeare has provided the best response to my OP. Anyone wanna ante his post? Tall order.

BONZ – I am certain I capitalized ‘I’ and ‘INR’. Why was my title adjusted? [Rhetorical – there’s an anti-Cap filter that obviously needs tweaking]

To all who read/post – this sojourn has been very rewarding for me. Not only for the experience (of being on the buyer side), but for the chance to interact with some of you. A lot of +/- has been said of the changes here (incl the forum), but I find there is a community if you poke around. Cheers!

Guess with this new format you get one answer bullet to fire. Sorry because I miss the fluid thread principle – but hopefully y’all can still comment…![URL removed]

The seller’s motives and agenda are not the issue unless a fraud is being committed, you suffer loss, and the fraud can be proven. Tall order.

You are of course entitled to a refund if the item is not received. If your receive the refund, then the matter is closed with respect to this transaction in particular. HOWEVER, if your research demonstrates unequivocally that seller is running a scam, you may report the same to the marketplace where seller is located, and any payment gateways involved. Further action is at their discretion.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your answer too. I am honored to have you here – I’ve read many of your posts & they’re always on point. Plus you look like my Uncle Gary! LOL![URL removed] So now it appears I have an Item Not Shipped issue… better than lost I guess, but none-the-less I’m done w/ PP – yet again.

If you get your money back, you will be made whole.

Leaving a neg does nothing… except make you feel like you got revenge on the guy.

What more do you want to do besides get your money back?

No one can force him to ship the item if he changed his mind about the sale because he thinks he got the short end of the stick on this deal, as you are suggesting. As long as you get your money back, that should be the main thing. Being upset that the guy figured out that he got a raw deal seems a bit like the pot calling the kettle black. No one can stop him from trying to re-sell the item if you are completely refunded, not even Bonanza management or the company you used to pay the seller.

Get your money back and move on seems the best way to handle this.

Thanks for your answer & I agree with you for the most part. This item is the Holy Grail & they call it the ‘Masterpiece’. Getting my $ back would not make me whole, but feeling ripped off by a broken contract. The Neg informs seller & future buyers I was NOT happy w/ the sale. I’ve Never given one!

I actually had that happen once. I purchased the item and paid, then the seller disappeared. The seller never refunded the money or answered any of my quarries. Out of cuiousity I copied the title of the item I bought, (copied the actual listing title.), and googled it. I found the duplicate listing on another site for more. I copied both identical listings along with the sale transaction information. Then contacted the site that I bought it from, the site it was currently listed at and the payment service. The seller was banned from at least two of those for obvious scamming. I had to get my refund by filing a claim with the card service it was purchased with.

Since the seller is still around and talking to you that’s a good sign. Hopefully this is all a minor shipping issue.

Wow – sure glad this isn’t developing like that did! So the issue now [URL removed] Feebay Newbie + Preypal = Buyer Nightmare

It seems to me that both from a seller’s and a buyer’s standpoint, the way to handle an item not received is pretty straightforward.

As a buyer, I ask for tracking. If the seller can’t provide it, I ask for, and expect, either a re-shipment of the product or a refund.

If I don’t get one or the other, I have the option to file a dispute with the payment provider the seller used.

As a seller, I will 1) provide tracking that proves delivery, or, if I can’t provide tracking, will 2) either offer to send out a duplicate shipment to the buyer or refund the payment.

You’ve been a seller long enough to know the [URL removed]

I appreciate all these answers – and although the issue has changed, this scenario does occur and perhaps this thread can be of help to others in the future.

I think yes it could be someone had the price too low, sometimes on the bay I notice some will start a price low to get bids and then feel lousy when the price does not go up. Good luck on your adventure, hope you can resolve it.

That was one of my fears, but since I had found they posted on an obscure game forum 2 mos earlier asking for $100 less than I paid, I didn’t feel that was happening here. I just concluded it was lost in the mail & asked the PM to look for it yesterday. Love your avatar btw & thanks for your answer!

I think the buyer meant that he wanted the seller to ship with D/C or insurance. He was probably telling the seller something like “NO, don’t ship it without D/C or insurance.”

thanks Tom..re-reading from another viewpoint, yes it does sound like that…

Sorry, I kinda used a double-negative. Thanks tomwayne1 for the back-up!![URL removed]

Ok folks, just posting a final result to this saga. The seller was waiting for the Preypal 21-day hold to pass & funds received before sending the item. I called and ripped ’em one -

“MY protection?! What if this was for a dated gift, or I was leaving town before 3-4 weeks & needed it? How about you wait UNTIL an INR happens before you place a hold on a sellers acct for something. Unacceptable, and exactly WHY I have boycotted your service for 3 years – and will not use it ever again if possible. Preypal’s actions have driven countless sellers/buyers like me to other venues which do not play these Big Brother games. Since there is obviously nothing YOU can do to remove this hold – this call & my use of PP is done.”

Suffice it to say the hold was removed before the 21 days, and I got it soon thereafter. Part of the problem was clearly the seller not understanding/honoring the Preypal way & simply telling me the item ‘would be shipped when the funds were cleared’ but not stating it was a 21-day hold. Yet I feel a seller has the right to not ship such an item until they’ve been paid. In a B+M, would they allow you to take an item whilst not getting paid for 3 weeks. Ha – and Preypal wants my subsequent comment/feedback.

Seller even stated in the FB ‘Thanks for being so patient’, another buyer could well have ruined them on their first sale because of this inane policy (aka $ grab). So once again I’m done with the Feebay/Preypal conundrum. And I’m glad to be here & as a BGG member as well.

All’s well that ends well. Thanks to all for reading a/o contributing to this thread. Cheers, Denny :D
