Our creations "new without tags", bonanza shows them as "used"

When I’m filling out the form while creating a new listing, some of those items are newly made by us, so I’ve been using the “new without tags” setting for those items. However, I just noticed that for those items, Bonanza then shows them as “Used” in the details below the listing.
But, I also have read that if one chooses “New with Tags”, Google Shopping won’t accept it without a UPC. How am I going to have a UPC for something we’ve created?
I don’t want to list them as handmade, as the bare hats are not handmade by us. The end product is a combination of hats we buy and our embellishments.
This is another of those Bonanza quirks I keep stumbling upon. :D

No that is a google ‘quirk’. New has to have a upc, or mpn and brand…everything else is USED.. or refurbished..(which also according to google is used)

Hi Barabar. Go ahead and mark them as new, not new without tags. And when you do not have a UPC, Bonanza will just add this attribute [URL removed] [[Identifier_[URL removed]}}

About 1/2 down the page Product Identifiers [URL removed] (you will have to copy/paste as links in comments are not active

When you list your item, then go look under Batch Edit, then Search Optimize and look for your listing you were not able to include a UPC for. You’ll see where Bonanza added this.

Just a side note, on occasion Google shopping will still not allow the item to show up in Google shopping. I’ve got one right now. It’s new and the item never was sold with a UPC. Most of the time it works great, once in a while it is like oh shoot, Google is not gonna show my listing in there.

EmpressDepot says: February 22, 2018

But definitely always try to find the UPC. Sometimes I’ve found a UPC by googling the name of an item and putting in UPC in www.google.com search box

Google does say for handmade sellers that the brand attribute can be the seller’s store. Like [[[URL removed] Take a look at Cindy’s link.

Yes, I do use the brand name, “LuLu’s Fancy”, for our creations. I will try to Cindy’s link info. :) Thank you, all!

LuLusFancy says: February 23, 2018

This is likely to sound a bit stupid, but how might one create their own UPC for merchandise they make themselves?

LuLusFancy says: February 23, 2018

OK…Googled that one myself. LOL Guess we won’t be doing that!

LuLusFancy says: February 23, 2018

One thing I did was to go back to all of our LuLu’s Fancy creations and change the descriptions and titles to indicate that they are, in fact, new items, but LuLu’s Fancy doesn’t have UPC codes for our own items.

I have been in a quandary about listing our hats as “handmade”, since we buy the hats and then design them with other items, ribbons, pins, buttons, ties, feathers, beads, etc… We don’t actually “make” the bare hats.

EmpressDepot says: February 23, 2018

Your hats are altered then they are handmade. Here’s a link on Etsy about [URL removed]

You could also say in your listings that your hats have been embellished by you. That would probably be a better word than refurbished or altered. It sounds prettier.

I just realized what you were trying to say in its entirety. You only have the choice to choose new without tag because Bonanza does not let you choose new since for this category Bonanza says new with tag rather than just new as they do for other categories. You are stuck between a rock and a hard

EmpressDepot says: February 23, 2018

stone on this one. You could contact Bonanza about this. New without tag should show as new. It is only logical that it would.

EmpressDepot says: February 23, 2018

Definately something that Bonanza should address.

LuLusFancy says: February 23, 2018

Ha ha! I’m collecting a few things to contact them about this weekend. Yes, I don’t get to choose “New”…as you said, just “New with Tag” or “New without tag”. :-/

LuLusFancy says: February 23, 2018

Thanks for that link, Empress! I will check it out and it looks like I’ll be modifying all of our traits to “Handmade” now. :D Learning! Ever learning! :)

LuLusFancy says: February 23, 2018

Just a follow up…I did try changing the trait to “handmade”, but that still only provides “new with tag” and “New without Tag”, so I’m going to leave it with the trait for “Brand”… “LuLu’s Fancy”

EmpressDepot says: February 23, 2018

lol. I just reread my one comment where I mentioned new with tag, new without tag repeatedly. It sounds like a tongue twister. I am glad you were able to make sense of it…
