Item description
This is the September 3, 1981 issue of Rolling Stone magazine (issue number 351). It's a pretty cool find and I was kinda hyped to run across it, but it does have some flaws, so let me tell you about it.
The cover features Stevie Nicks in her first solo appearance there, and declares her the "Reigning Queen of Rock Roll". The article inside, titled "Stevie Nicks' Magic Act", includes more fantastic photos by Annie Leibovitz. Also inside you'll find ads for Magnavox speakers, the Pretenders II album, Drum tobacco, the Sony Walkman and its competitor the Aiwa CS-J1 Hipster, Dickies, Ozzy Osbourne's Blizzard of Ozz tour, the Triumph TR7 convertible, Camel and Marlborough cigarettes, Calvin Klein jeans, Budweiser, a review of Brian De Palma's movie Blow Out and more. There's an in-depth article on Harry Chapin (this about six weeks after his death) and another piece on Jack Henry Abbott (this about three weeks before his capture). In a much smaller "Brief Encounters" piece, songwriter Jim Steinman is interviewed and just casually tells a kind of gross story about Meat Loaf (ewww, but also a little bit lol). Man, the 80s were just getting started.
Okay, that's the fun stuff, so now for the bummers. The cover looks fine if you aren't closely inspecting, but there is a very tiny tear along the edge (see my last photo), and there is a faint crease/fold line at the bottom corner (I really couldn't get that to show in a pic, as it's pretty mild). There is also an address label on the front, as you can see. The corners of the magazine do have light bumps/curls or whatever you call that (again, hard to see in the pics). The worst thing, though, is that there is some kind of pink staining on the second page of the Stevie Nicks article (second-to-last pic). I really think this is some kind of printing flaw or something, just the way it came off the presses I suppose, as the pink seems to me like it's ink. Whatever it is, it's there and it's a bummer. I don't see any other problems to mention; I think this is still a really cool magazine to have, but maybe not for a serious collector and I've priced it accordingly.
Asking $15.00 obo. Everything I have listed for sale is "or best offer", so feel free to make an offer.
