The marines find opening eggs, dead facehuggers, and people wrapped up in cocoons inside the station's center. These colonists are acting as incubators for the alien embryos. The marines kill a newborn alien when it bursts through a colonist's chest. This wakes up a group of adult aliens who ambush the marines and kill or capture a lot of them. When the novice Gorman gets scared, Ripley takes charge and drives their armored personnel carrier into the nest to save Corporal Dwayne Hicks, as well as Privates Hudson and Vasquez. Hicks tells the dropship to pick up the survivors, but an alien who was hiding on board kills the pilots, making the dropship crash into the station. The survivors lock themselves inside the colony facility because they don't have enough weapons or supplies.
