Anyone know the value of this bradford exchange plates set?

I have a complete set of Bradford Exchange plates that are in mint condition that were from my fathers estate. There are 9 plates in total and the series name is Russian Legends.
All 9 plates are in original boxes and in the original shipping boxes. All have documentation from Bradford and the firing agent (this document is in russian).
I have tried to research online the value but can’t seem to find anything. Even emailed Bradford Exchange but got a polite “We don’t deal in this series”.
Anyone know what a collection like this could be worth?

I did a search in Google of russian legends bradford exchange plates and it brought up all kinds of other people selling these on etcy, rubylane and more.

Hope you can find the info you are looking for.

Have a good day !

The first thing you will want to do is date your set, the second thing you will want to do is verify that you have the complete set.

search any auction site and you will come across broken up Bradford exchange plate sets selling as individual pieces. Parting out a collection in that fashion is a painstaking, tedious process. Selling the entire series as one lot will be much faster, but will make you less money.

Bradford exchange is a prolific maker of collectable plates, so i am not surprised that they are not going to be helpful with a retired series, they are done with it now~

Depending on a number of variables, a complete Bradford Russian legends set will sell for the $150 to $350 range.

If you can reply with more specifics, i can give you a much narrower price range. In this circumstance the relevant specifics are as follows

Is the set complete?
What year was the set produced? (there were several editions of the Russian legends series.)
Do you have all of the boxes, certificates and associated documentation (Not some, not most. ALL. 100%)
Are all of the plates in Perfect condition (dust does not count, cracks, chips or fading does)
Are any of the plates signed?

Hope this helps!

Well, The good news is that brand new, stored 100% mint condition perfect complete set will make it Much much easier to sell than a random solitary piece that was on display. The bad news is that the 1990 set of 9 is not all that hot, or expensive.I found your set on replacements.com pretty quicky, and replacements will happily send me your plates for between 10-17 dollars each. There were a few sets prior to the 1990 one, with more plates. Individually, you could command up to $20 each for the plates max, or the whole collection for between $175-225. Your selling point with these plates is that they are absolutely perfect, and were stored since org purchase. a collector will snap them up.

Hi John,
Thanks for the info! I am surprised that a complete set would sell for less than an incomplete set. But when you take into account one plate might be more valuable than another, I guess that could make sense.

It is a complete set of 9. According to the documentation, there are only 9 plates in the series.

The date on the back of each plate is 1990. The plate also says that this is the first collector’s plate series ever produced in Russia. All the writing on the bottom of each plate is in Russian, obviously. And each plate has a Bradex number on it (as well as the individual numbering of the plate).

The documentation states that it is “the first series of limited-edition porcelain plates created in Russia”. Does that mean it’s a first edition? Not sure.

The artist’s name is Evgeny A Populov

And the studio name is v-Palekh Art Studios

ALL plates have original boxes and complete sets of documentation for each plate.

They are all in MINT Condition. They have never been on display and have been stored in their boxes – within the shipping boxes for years. No damage what so ever.
