Can anyone tell me anything about this doll?

![URL removed]

This doll was never played with. Her owner was born in 1959. I believe the mom said that it was one of those dolls you sent away for but I didn’t think to question her on that. I will next time I see her.

The doll is stuffed, soft rubber and has a mama squeeker, is 22 inches tall, brunette ponytail, original & complete outfit and butterfly barrettes.

Any information would be greatly appreciated even if only to direct me to an info resource.

You can see her in my booth by clicking on the image.

Several different companies used the AE mark so it is not always possible to determine the manufacturer. It is generally thought that dolls marked AE with four numbers following were made By Allied Eastern or one of their subsidiaries, however, Natural Doll Co. used the AE 3651 mark on their 36 inch white dolls.

Their 36 inch black dolls were marked AE 5651 Allied Eastern also mass produced dolls for many other smaller companies. One of them was Deluxe Reading.

  • I am sure someone else might have better information to offer aside of my basic input. She’s STUNNING!

The following Doll Manufacturers all used the A E lettering at one time or another – Allied Grand, American Character, Belle, Deluxe Reading/ Topper Toys, Eegee, Mary Hoyer, Jolly Toy/Nasco, New Dolly Toy Company, P & M Sales, Sayco, Valentine, Unique Doll Co.

This is an email response from one person about the [URL removed]

I’m stumped, but I don’t think she’s Deluxe…I can usually recognize those faces a mile off, and Deluxe had a tendency for blonde dolls over brunette dolls. And they clearly mark all their boxes, rather than generic brown boxes.
Ideal and Eegee had brunettes, and I think she’s an Eegee..
Good luck, these Magic Skin dolls are the hardest to id, because of the generic boxes, and because they disintegrate and are tossed.

Hi,
She’s definitely a magic skin doll made in the mid 1950’s (1956-58).
I’ve seen her before, but I’ve never seen her name.
You might watch ebay and see one like her.

I’m actually sending another email today to one more lady that just might know.

Well here is the email from the last expert I could get in touch with and this is the email she sent me.

Hi Thomas, If you’d like me to identify and appraise the doll, go to my webpage

Thank you all for the info! Montrose, those brands were a great lead in what to look for. Angelica, I forgot about that site, I will take a better look at it tonight! Thomas, thank you so much. I found the same companies and the lead to the grocery store dolls when I decided that I didn’t have any more time to put into this pretty dolly. I would be thrilled to hear what your doll expert has to say about her!

Thank you all!

Thomas, thank you for putting out so much effort! I do appreciate your help. So, don’t think she is a deluxe, that is so funny as I found the identical marking on the back of a Deluxe doll. I do understand however that the mark in this case isn’t everything. I have gone ahead and listed her but may remove the Deluxe Reading and replace it with Magic Skin!
