I wonder what I am doing wrong too,However I don’t think you are doing anything wrong, sales are just super slow here as a market place,my opinion,I been here since last year 11/2012 ,8 months and only 1 sale.

You aren’t doing anything wrong. You have a beautiful booth and your listings are good.

Must agree that you need better pictures and descriptions. More importantly ~ Research, Research, Research. I notice one listing for a “Sterling Silver” ring w/ coral. You have "Sterling Silver in the Title but the tag in the photo in the listing says “Coin Silver” ~ They are not the same ~ “Sterling” is .925% pure Silver ~ Coin Silver is pretty much Junk. You have another listing for a Zuni Ring ~ You only have 1 Picture and no description. Zuni Jewelry will almost always be marked in one form or another. If you can’t get a picture of the markings you at least need to state what it says in the listing (.925 , Sterling, Marks or Initials etc.) It is always important to list any marking on any item. You have 2 dolls ~ People want to know how tall they are. Just looking at the pictures I don’t know if they are 4" tall or 16" tall. Whenever possible give all measurements for every item you list. You have good stuff all you need to do is learn to have good listings.

You have really lovely things.

You might try to expand your titles to use more search friendly key words. Also I’m noticing that many of your descriptions are only a sentence long. The more clearly you can describe your item, the better. The idea is to give a prospective buyer a really clear picture in their mind of the actual item. You might also try to add more pictures, and more detail in the pictures.

Other than that, you could consider opting in to Google Advertising if you haven’t done so already.

And tweet, post on Facebook, use Pinterest — anything and everything to get your products out there and seen!

After all that, the summer for me has always been a fairly slow time for sales…people are too busy working in their yards, etc., to spend a lot of time searching on the [URL removed]

For those participating in Google Advertising, go to batch edit – search optimize to make sure all of your info is correct. Correct those needed and then resubmit the feed. With the new Google guidelines, I found that many of my listings weren’t designated in any Google category until I fixed them

Check your attributes. I have found that a great number of mine were either missing or incorrect. If Google does not have the correct information for your items the search it doesn’t work well or they will not show up at all.

I just spent the better part of 3 days going through mine, following the guidelines in the little boxes underneath to get rid of the “false” identifier notations. Once I did that, and all of my items were showing Google product categories as well as Bonanza’s, I resubmitted the feed yesterday.

lowerwholesale says: June 02, 2013

I’m already seeing a marked increase in views. I’d really encourage everyone to go to the batch editor, choose “search optimize” and correct all of the errors that are showing.

Hi lowerwholesale I notice all my listings have “false” identifiers. But I don’t see how to change that. Please help my booth is getting 0 to 1 hit a day. Thanks

lowerwholesale says: June 05, 2013

@mustardkev In order to get rid of the identifier_[URL removed] you have to include two of the [URL removed] brand, mpn (manufacturer’s part number), and UPC. The antiques you’re selling probably won’t have them so the “false” designation is accurate. For used goods, see if you can find 2 of the 3.

I went from selling about 25 items a month to 4 items last month (all 4 sales at beginning of May). Definitely a big drop off in sales here since mid May. So I don’t think it’s anything you are doing or haven’t done. I’m still listing and promoting as before the drop off when I was getting good sales, but still no sales since mid May. I hope things turn around here soon.

I don’t understand how you get rid of the “false” identifier notations. Mine all say that it is labeled false because it doesn’t include the attribute gtin. I don’t know what this is or how to correct. Any help would be appreciated. My sales went down quite a bit sometime in March and haven’t gotten better yet.

Sales seem to be slower but I’m getting them from Google search & Pinterest. I agree with lowerwholesale, that you need to expand your titles descriptions for better search. For example [URL removed] Phillip Morris Tin, I’d use vintage Phillip Morris advertising pocket tin cigarets tobacco in the title or what ever fits & in the description add New York or anything else on the tin that gives more information, size, date, & condition. For clothing, try to get the size in the title and list all measurements, fiber content, etc. You also need to use more lighting for your photos & I’m not sure if you have used the crop tool but some need cropping. Hope this helps!

With the above comments, I’d also recommend to try and use better lighting. A few photos are dark and some need just a little TLC (again, better lighting) to make the pictures pop better from the screen.

Good luck!!

To remove the “false” you need TWO of the following [URL removed] Brand, MPN and gtin. GTIN is an international version of MPN. (Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.) When these requirements first came into place a couple of years ago, there were many categories excluded from this requirement, namely, clothing, jewelry, handmade, vintage. The difference now, if I understand correctly is that the [URL removed] must be there as an attribute in all categories. For new items, MPN is often fairly easy to determine, preowned items are another story. I’m not worried about the FALSE, as that’s a new google requirement when you don’t have the Brand/MPN. As long as you have that identifier attribute, you’re ok. Now, if you do have the brand/mpn, that’s always better.

I spent the better part of last week fixing attributes as well, but fixes we due to mostly size and color errors that I believe were system issues.

One thing to remember, if you duplicate a listing because it’s similar to an item you’re now listing, and then edit it, all your original attributes will carry over. Because of this, my task for this week is to clean up my ISBNs.

And finally, yes, sales seem to be down all over. Through last year-end, my average sales were an item a day. The bottom dropped out in January when my sales went down to 12 transactions for the month. Since then I’ve had 16, 11, 9 trans and then 12 for May, some of them being multiple items.

Great explanation of the attribute process! If an mpn or a upc exists, Google requires that you list it. The identifier [URL removed] is to replace the category-wide exemptions that used to exist. If one DOES exist and you don’t list it, that listing may be removed by Google from their listings.

lowerwholesale says: June 03, 2013

If they find that problem in too many of a seller’s listings, they may be suspended altogether from advertising in Google Shopping.

lowerwholesale says: June 03, 2013

GTIN is the international version of UPC I believe. You need 2 out of 3 – Brand, MPN, UPC (or GTIN)

HavensRainbow says: June 03, 2013

I was also under the impression that if we have a UPC, MPN, ISBN (in other words if the correct one can be found) that we have to use that and are unable to use the identifier [URL removed]

HavensRainbow says: June 03, 2013

Also, a good indicator on whether a UPC, MPN, ISBN would exist is because somewhere in the 70s (correct time period I believe) is when they started using the bar codes. This would mean a lot of clothes that are not vintage, with the way I’m understanding, will not be able to use the identifier.exist

HavensRainbow says: June 03, 2013

I would really rather it be the way you described Abby. It would be soooo much easier![URL removed] Sometimes I find a set of numbers that I will use as an MPN prior to the 60s. Not often at all though.

HavensRainbow says: June 03, 2013

Sorry to be long winded here, but one comment is limiting on space. I will be using the identifier [URL removed] when I have a listing that includes a Lot such as a listing that includes a Lot of books since not one ISBN can speak for the whole Lot of books.

lowerwholesale says: June 03, 2013

@TipTopMgr You are right that if an identifier exists we must use it. If Google finds we are not, they can refuse the listing or, in extreme cases, suspend the entire feed

HavensRainbow says: June 03, 2013

Thanks for confirming that Lowerwholesale![URL removed]

BookbinEtc says: June 03, 2013

GTIN is actually all of UPC, EAN, JAN, and ISBN. You need 2 of either Brand, MPN, or one of the GTINs – Global Trade ID Number.

BookbinEtc says: June 03, 2013

GTINs include UPC, EAN (in Europe), JAN (in Japan), and ISBN (for books).

jsgeare says: June 03, 2013

“False is NOT used when you don’t have the GTIN, MPN, etc. It is ONLY used when there IS NO GTIN, MPC etc. Not knowing the the codes doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

Nothing is the same for me at all. Been here since 2008 and done super well until the last several months. crashed..

Same for us, since March sales have slowed. May was the slowest month here that we have had for year (for months that we where opened the whole time). While elsewhere my sales where the highest May we have ever had.

I haven’t sold anything in the past two months. This happens every summer.
