COUPONS TIP! Opinion: coupon usage clarification verses bonanza percent discount usage.

Hi!
Bonanza [URL removed]
“You are limited to publishing 2 coupons per month.”

Should really be re-phased to “You are limited to publishing 2 bonanza visible coupons per month, however unlimited private coupons are available.”

If you go into your “coupons”: section this is not made clear!

You can “make active” unlimited? as many private coupons as you want.

We tested this and you can indeed publish more than two coupons and use the “invisible” aka “private” coupons that you don’t want visible on bonanza, yet want to use to market to people outside of bonanza.

Why is it so important to clarify the usage of [URL removed]

Coupons are the only way you can avoid price matching on other platforms; yet still essentially offer your products for a lower price on Bonanza. Making Bonanza the platform to shop if that is a goal.

All sellers should use coupons verses bonanza percent discount price system; as we believe this avoids the bot price scraping / matching systems on other platforms that basically make lowering your price useless!

What’s great is you can use the same coupon discount percentage or amount off, but use a different CODE NAME, each new CODE NAME can be related to whatever audience your promoting the code to, in whatever way you want. So same 30% off coupon, but say code “RADIO” or say “TV” or “NEWSPAPER” etc examples.

These same codes can be used on any system or platform, so the marketing materials can be universal and uniform if you desire that outcome.

So the question [URL removed]
If any programmers know if the bots can’t scrap publicly shown bonanza coupon priced items we would like to know???

Surely they cannot scrap the unlimited private coupons though!
We recommend everyone selling on bonanza use them!

A main pricing strategy point [URL removed] Instead of offering a 1-9% off across your bonanza listings compared to say your eBay listings; offer a 1 percent lower bonanza price, “so the price looks lower” on say google which may or may not eventually be price matched; but add a permanent 1-8% off visible bonanza coupon or private coupon.

The total discount could be the same, your just breaking it up differently.
It may be more likely to avoid any spider bot price matching scrapers?

Welcoming any comments or other pricing strategies.

It has always been this way…

I make private coupons for general/specific customers, a coupon code that goes with all my invoices and coupons that I tweet or post on facebook…all these coupons are private. I use the same coupon codes on here for several booths as well as on my own website. Makes it easier to know what is out there and what is not

There are also websites where you can upload your codes so others can search for them like retailmenot.com

Remember making a private coupon means that the buyer has to have the code from promotional postings, emails or invoicing.

These coupons remain until they are deleted by the seller

It does say in the help pages that published coupons are limited to two
..and I susposed they assumed that sellers would understand that this does not apply to private coupons.

You are making private coupons, not publishing them and therefore do not fall under the 2/per month criteria

IF you wish to make the coupon public, click the button to “Publish this coupon.” Published coupons will be advertised in your listing headers, as well as on our Coupons & Deals page.
If you do not publish your coupon, it will remain private and you must manually provide buyers with the coupon code for them to receive the discount. You are limited to publishing 2 coupons per month.

Only the seller can remove Published or private coupons, which can be time limited or deleted when no longer needed by the seller..

As to the other..ebay…since I do not use ebay..haven’t since 2009…I cannot answer for you, though I do run as I said at the beginning my own coupon campaigns on social media and coupon code sites.

There is also the option of running coupon campaigns on bonanza that will either target followers, previous buyers, etc. They too can be modified to fit your needs and these coupons are not considered published either

We originally misunderstood the “Publish this coupon” meant “make it active”. We didn’t understand you you can make “private” coupons for your own marketing! This is not shown on the coupon creation page, only further explained in the help pages. Excellent point about the auto off time settings!

It is one of those things that is assumed but not really stated..probably because it has been that way for years.

also look into marketing campaigns that bonz has…those are not considered published coupons either
