Paypal's 180 day return policy

Hi,

I would like to know how sellers are dealing with the issue of Paypal’s policy of 180 day returns? Have any of you stopped or plan to stop accepting Paypal, and only take checkout by Amazon? This is a really serious issue, because we all know that many buyers are abusing the system. They are claiming “item not as described” and can have a free shopping spree. I am carrying very low volume and low priced inventory right now because of this. I would really appreciate some feedback/suggestions. Thanks very much.

What other payment options are there? I have to admit, I’m just starting to step out of my own little ebay seller world and expand my horizons selling on the internet.

Truthfully, many of the issues that sellers have at that e site…do not seem to happen as much here (and at least in my experience on my own website)….

You have a bit more control on accepting your returns here and how you choose to deal with your buyers….Everything here goes to the seller first…if you cannot/will not handle it, then the buyer goes to bonanza resolution center…it rarely goes to that point as far as I can tell..there may be some, but if so, no one is saying anything about it

There are a few here that dropped or will not use paypal, but for the most part, it does not appear to be a major issue…

Others may chime in…with their feelings…

I have not had any issues on any of the sites I sell on, and i agree with ccmom, bonanza gives alot of control to the sellers which I love…with that said, i still would eventually like to find another payment site…whether i keep pp or find another one, (i am not that keen on amazon) i may do it, but for now, since i have had no major issues, ill just keep them and see what happens.

I get lots of business via paypal and I am not going to reduce the means by which buyers can make payments to me. The 180 days thing stinks. I hope I don’t have to deal with it. One thing I do know is that I am not selling on ebay …that means that hopefully if there is a dispute, I will have a chance to fairly present my side and evidence. Can’t say ebay sellers have that luxury.

Thank you very much for your feedback and help. I would love to get some more. It does seem like a lot of the problem is within Ebay, however it still makes me really uncomfortable that Paypal has the same policy of 180 days which is outrageous. Can you imagine walking into Walmart 180 days after purchase and asking for a full refund LOL This leads me to another question. If a dispute arises on bonanza, and it goes to bonanza management to make the call, can a buyer still contact paypal if it does not go their way and file that claim up to 180 days later?

I didn’t know about the 180 day thing. I sell quality vintage lingerie, vintage and newer previously owned but gently loved and cared for clothing, accessories and collectibles…this would mean someone could use or wear my items for an event and then return them for a full refund. That’s a long time to allow a buyer to return an item. What would be the point of this? 180 days? Seriously? Can someone please list the other safe, reliable payment options out there for sellers to accept?

I’m really ready to take the next step to increase ALL my options as an online seller. I’m new to Bonanza, and so far I’m very impressed with what I’m seeing. I got my booth all set up, and am now editing each listing to polish them up and make sure they look the way I want them to look. A bit of a learning curve, but it really was EASY to import my listings here from ebay. I’m excited and feel new energy from the potential growth that may be coming to my selling adventures.

I also sell mostly new and gently used clothing and have always had Paypal. Been over at Ebay for 1.5 years and have never had a return close to the 180 day mark. The few that I had, were usually within the first week of delivery. So it really hasn’t affected anything.
