Item description
LM1886N - National Semiconductor - TV Video Matrix D/A Converter - NOS New Old Stock - DIP-20
Rare original National Semiconductor LM1886N IC in 20-pin plastic DIP package. Perfect for restoring or modding vintage computers, arcade machines, video encoders, or retro RGB-to-composite/PAL/NTSC projects from the 1980s/1990s.
Manufacturer: National Semiconductor (now part of Texas Instruments)
Part Number: LM1886N
Function: TV Video Matrix Digital-to-Analog Converter ? converts 3-bit digital RGB inputs into analog luminance (Y) and weighted color difference signals (R-Y, B-Y) using true NTSC matrix (Y = 0.3R + 0.59G + 0.11B). Supports 8 levels of grayscale and wide colorimetry range.
Key Features (from original datasheet):
Low-power TTL-compatible inputs
Wideband luminance output
1-pin select for PAL/NTSC mode
Complete digital-to-RF encoding when paired with LM1889 modulator
Power dissipation: max 1900 mW
Supply: typically +5V / +12V (check datasheet for exact specs)
Operating temperature: 0C to +70C
Condition: NOS (New Old Stock) ? unused, never soldered, stored in controlled environment. Excellent pin condition, guaranteed authentic vintage stock.
Package: DIP-20 (Plastic Dual In-Line, 20 pins)
Typical Applications: Vintage video encoders, RGB-to-composite adapters, genlock circuits, arcade PCBs, early home computers/consoles (e.g., used in some mods or similar-era hardware like certain video modulators from Elektor projects or Intellivision mods), Amiga/Atari/Commodore repairs, or custom retro RGB projects.
This chip has been discontinued for decades and is increasingly hard to find in good, tested NOS condition?ideal for serious restorers and collectors!
Shipping Policies:
Tracked insured shipping worldwide
