Item description
Natural Uranium Rock
CARNOTITE
Weight: 8.0 Oz.
Radioactivity: 35,900.
This rock was found during October 2025 at
Jurassic Canyon, located 18 miles NW from
Grants NM. During the 1950s, a decorative
licence plate frame was mounted on local cars
here, stating:
GRANTS NM: URANIUM CAPITAL OF USA.
This is also the title of a recent book on
on regional southwest history, entitled:
YELLOWCAKE TOWNS: URANIUM MINING
IN AMERICA'S SOUTHWEST.
There is another book entitled:
UNDERGROUND AND RADIOACTIVE:
Adventures of Uranium Miners at
New Mexico during the 1970s
Both books are available for purchase
online at or at Amazon.
SUGGESTION: Look at all my Bonanza ads
for these uranium rocks, then buy two or
more rocks at the same time. When this is
done, then I will REFUND ANY OVERPAYMENT
of shipping costs, above the total postage
cost. The refund $$$$ will be deposited
directly to your PayPal account. I do this
with all rock sales at Amazon, and also with
all my sales (mostly Apple II computer
parts).
Occasionally, I receive comments about
handling the rocks with my bare hands. Uranium
rocks mainly have ALPHA RADIATION, which
is blocked by any barrier, even clothing or the
skin itself. The main health concern is to
PREVENT URANIUM FROM ENTERING THE
BODY. This risk occurs during windy days at
the uranium field. If the winds are strong,
then uranium particles could be suspended in
the air, from which they could be breathed.
The Jurassic Canyon uranium field is only 14
miles from the I-40 interstate freeway. At
the freeway, there are warning signs to
motorists, to park on the freeway shoulder
during any dust storm that wipes out visibility.
High winds carry uranium dust particles which
could be breathed, with harmful effects.
These dust storms are most likely experienced
during March or April each year. In that
event, I recommend that a facemask filter
should be worn to prevent dust particles from
being inhaled. If uranium dust gets inside the
body, it tends to concentrate in the kidneys.
Expulsion from the body of the uranium
particles via urine excretion follows a biological
half-life of eight weeks. While rock-
collecting, I hold my pancake probe once an
hour against the left or right lower-back
areas to detect any radioactive response from
the kidneys. Never, not even once, have my
kidneys shown any hint that they have been
contaminated by dust inhalation.
